Ever wanted to know the Capacity gang a bit better? Well, you’re in the right place. Each month we’ll be sitting down with a member of the team here at Capacity, spending 5 minutes asking them some of our burning questions. We’ll find out everything from why they joined Capacity, to what inspires them most, to who’d play them in a biopic about their life.

This month, we sat down with our finance assistant Sarah Lee.

Last month we spent time getting to know Goda Dragunaite a bit better, and she nominated you for this month’s ‘5 minutes with’. We like to start with the basics. So, can you tell us about how you came to join the Capacity team?

I originally went to uni to study education and quickly realised that it wasn’t for me. After working in hospitality for a couple of years, I started to think about getting into finance. I began my studies, then got a job in a similar role to the one I do now at a health and social care charity. I worked there for 5 years before deciding I fancied a change, which led me to Capacity. I was really interested in the work Capacity was doing and at the time we were in the early stages of launching Juno which was exciting. So, I officially joined the Capacity team in April 2022.

What are you most looking forward to in your role?

It’s a pretty exciting time for me – I’ve just finished my ATT qualification and I’m just about to start my chartership to become an accountant. I’m really looking forward to seeing how that can help me with my role and push me further!

Okay, now for some rapid fire questions. What three words best describe you?

Clumsy, approachable and compassionate.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

To just keep working at the things that I’m passionate about, not everything is an easy ride but if it’s meant to be, you’ll get there.

What inspires you?

I feel inspired by the work and drive that people put into their roles, as well as the people I surround myself with – my friends, family and colleagues.

If you could have a superpower what would it be?

I’d love to fly! I enjoy going to new places and taking the scenic route so flying would be perfect for me (plus, no more dreaded train delays).

What’s one thing you wish you’d known when you were younger?

That it’s okay not to have everything all figured out by the time you’re 18.

If you had a magic wand, what’s the one thing you’d fix?

There are so many broken systems in this country that have been overlooked. I’d start by fixing those so people can get the support they need. Oh, and I’d love to be able to get Everton to win the league (or at least a cup)!

What’s your favourite place in the Liverpool City Region?

I have two favourite places I can’t choose between. One is Crosby Beach – I grew up nearby and it brings back great memories. The other is Goodison Park. I’ve been going to see Everton play since I was six and have spent many happy times there (and a few not so happy times that I won’t mention).

What’s one thing on your bucket list that you want to tick off this year?

My biggest bucket list item this year was finishing my AAT. Next year, a big one is to visit New Zealand.

Who’d play you in a biopic about your life?

When I was younger, I used to say Zooey Deschanel because she had a fringe and glasses like me – I’ll stick with that.

What’s a skill you’re working on mastering?

The skill I’d most like to master would be the ability to not fall over or trip on a daily basis!

What are you most excited about in life right now?

My sister is having a baby next month so I’m really looking forward to being an auntie again.

One last question – who should we spend 5 minutes with next month?

I nominate Heather Mackelden.
