We know that the Liverpool City Region is full of incredible, socially-minded organisations that want to make a real impact for local people. We also know that these organisations are navigating an increasingly complex world.
Rising public sector resource pressures, increased demand for services and support, worsening health inequalities and declining mental health are all contributing to an accelerating need for innovative, community-led solutions.
That’s where Social Climbers comes in.
Developed and delivered by Capacity, and made possible by Postcode Innovation Trust (thanks to the players of the People’s Postcode Lottery), Social Climbers supports local social enterprises and charities to get moving, growing their ideas and building solid foundations to create innovative solutions.
What is Social Climbers?
A programme of social enterprise support, Social Climbers is working with Liverpool City Region-based charities and social enterprises, helping them to make a bigger and bolder impact for the people and communities they serve.
We don’t box things up – our support is tailored to the unique needs, challenges and context of each organisation we work with. We take the time to understand your ambitions, your pressures and the systems that you’re operating within, then work alongside you to turn ideas into practical, achievable next steps.
Who is it for?
Social Climbers is for ambitious, socially-driven organisations delivering services across one or more of our focus areas: mental health, housing and homelessness, health and social care, family support and childcare.
Maybe you’re about to take on a new contract, expand into a new area, launch a new service, or rethink your long-term operating model. We work with organisations at different stages of their journey – from newer social enterprises building strong foundations, to established charities ready to scale what works.
You don’t need to have it all figured out, we’ll create the space you need to think, challenge and sharpen your focus. What really matters is your impact, ambition and readiness to grow.
What support do we offer?
We’ll act as a trusted partner and critical friend, providing honest challenge, strategic insight and hands-on support. Our support covers a range of areas, including:
- Strategic growth support: Clarifying your vision, shaping your growth plans, strengthening business models and identifying sustainable income opportunities.
- Navigating internal change: We support leaders, senior teams and trustees to navigate change with confidence, strengthening governance, improving financial resilience, clarifying roles and structures, and building the internal foundations needed to move forward.
- Building public sector connectivity: Helping you articulate your value, understand commissioning and procurement landscapes, and develop stronger relationships with public sector partners, increasing your confidence and credibility within the system.
