At our board meeting last week, we were very excited to appoint Liz Cross as our new Chair of the Board. Liz has been a friend of Capacity for some time, and even moderated our panel at last March’s Fundamentally Different event.
Originally from Canada, Liz has lived in the UK for 44 years and worked in the Liverpool City region for over 30. Liz brings significant experience and unique insight in governance and leadership and has held 25 non-executive director posts and 7 Chair roles. Having worked across public, private, social enterprise and voluntary organisations, Liz has a proven track record of leading systems change and transformation programs that deliver social gain. Liz is Founder and Managing Director of The Connectives, a group of organisational development, business strategy and innovation consultants that she founded in 2006.

“It’s truly a privilege to be appointed as a non-executive director and Chair of This is Capacity CIC. With a track record of delivering exceptional work in the public service transformation space behind them, it’s an exciting time to be joining the team.
It’s been refreshing to see the work that Capacity is leading in the region, engaging with local people and communities to put their voice at the heart of service design and working with some incredible clients to deliver life-enhancing public services that really make a difference.
I’m looking forward to using my decades of experience in non-executive director and Chair roles to play a role in supporting stakeholders, partners and colleagues who share this purpose.”
Speaking of the appointment, our Chief Exec Chris Catterall said
“I’m delighted that Liz is joining Capacity as our new Chair. Liz brings a wealth of knowledge and over 35 years of experience in both an executive and non-executive director roles across the public, social enterprise and voluntary sectors.
Liz understands what Capacity is all about – our focus on fundamentally changing public services, and the role we can play in supporting a network of organisations to do things differently and more effectively, to have a bigger impact on the lives of real people.
But, most importantly, she’s also good fun. She doesn’t take herself too seriously and is looking forward to getting stuck into her new role.”
Welcome to the team Liz!
