Financial Accountant

Financial Accountant

The Job

Over the last few years, we’ve really grown as an organisation and the great stuff we are doing means we’re getting bigger and better all the time. For that reason, it’s time to bring in a Financial Accountant to help us out with all the exciting work we do!

If the opportunity sounds good and you become our new Financial Accountant, a big part of your day to day will be financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting, and generally overseeing and preparing management accounts for both Capacity, its subsidiaries and some of the amazing organisations we work with. We need someone who can design and implement internal control policies as well as work closely with the rest of the Finance team to help them progress and develop. This is important for our organisational and financial resilience to make sure we carry on doing what we do best … delivering the greatest impact.

You will be the right-hand support for our Finance Director which means that sometimes you will have to deputise for them and be confident presenting complex financial information at Executive and Board level. Your role will be varied and include everything from coordinating audit processes, to managing day-to-day operations of the Finance team. You will be a pro at identifying trends and engaging with stakeholders to share your thoughts and learning about us as an organisation. Our organisation is pretty small, and we all share a commitment to getting stuck in and getting our hands dirty to help each other out.

If we do say so ourselves, our team is pretty awesome! We don’t believe in perfection but we do believe in doing. We are on the ground, doing the graft and doing the listening. We’re easy going, we take our work seriously but not ourselves. With this in mind, we’re looking for a real team-player to work across a bunch of diverse projects with Capacity’s existing team.

We’re proud to promote a learning culture where people are encouraged to be open and honest about what’s working and what’s not. Hey, we’re only human, we won’t always get it right, but we want you to feel like you can ask for help and guidance whenever it’s needed.

Overall, we are looking for a brilliant, hardworking person who’s not just amazing at the important finance work. What’s really important to us is that you’re in it for the right reasons – you’re interested in working with us because you want public services to be the best they can be for the real people at the end of them. And don’t worry if you haven’t worked in the sector before, as long as your heart is in it, we will show you the ropes.

Director of Care Juno

Director of Care

The Job

Every day across Liverpool City Region, a child is placed in residential care. Like any child, that young person needs a safe and happy place to call home, a place they can enjoy their childhood. At the moment, there aren’t enough suitable placements locally, so more than half of children are placed outside of the City Region, away from their families, friends, schools, and the communities that are so important to them.

As a social enterprise, Juno’s priority will always be social good over personal profit. Juno will be part owned by the team who run it, so decisions about the organisation will be made by people who are part of Juno’s everyday life, and that includes you. What’s more, Juno’s profits will be reinvested to improve support for children who come into care, and into projects that help families to stay together

To make this vision a reality we are looking for somebody who wants the very best for children and young people, someone who is keen to take the lead in the development of our homes, never shying away from a challenge and always having the young people we support at the forefront of their mind.

Juno is a fresh and new approach to children’s residential care so the detail around the ‘what’ is going to be developed with you, the team and the young people you support. Because you’ll be here before we open our first home, you’ll have a real opportunity to shape what we do and how we do it.

The job description and person spec attached should give you a real feel for the person we’re after. You don’t necessarily need to have done this exact job before, but you do need a solid background in Children’s Social Care and an understanding of the legal role and responsibilities in this position. We’re looking for a Director ofCare who’s bought into the values and aims of the project. It’s not only about the usual ‘safe pair of hands’, and, although we know policies, procedures, risk management and experience are important, they’re not the things leading this recruitment for us. We’re looking for someone who is open minded and ready to challenge some of the norms in the system, using ideas that are relatively new to the UK but tried and tested in other parts for the world.

Young Leaders Partner Brief Juno

Young Leaders - Engagement and Participation Partner Brief

The Brief

What is the Young Leaders’ Group?

The Juno Young Leaders Group is a group of care-experienced young people from the Liverpool City Region who want to work with our team to make sure we are achieving the best for young people in our care. We have worked alongside young people in Wirral to consider what this group will do, need, and offer, in order to be beneficial for those involved and the wider organisation. They’ve told us that the experience for members of the group should be:

  • Informal, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and good food
  • Facilitated by someone who has good leadership and communication skills and who ideally has care experience. They should support someone in the group to lead it in the long term and be warm, open and friendly
  • Underpinned by really good training from the Juno team so that we all develop new skills and techniques that help us to do the job really well
  • Promote new friendships and connections across Liverpool City Region
  • Paid fairly: young people should be paid for their time, with sessional rates for meetings in line with the national living wage, plus travel costs reimbursed, food covered when we meet and fun days out funded by Juno
  • Taken seriously and have real weighting in terms of decision-making: young people’s views and insights must have real impact, being clear about what they can and can’t affect
  • Consistent, with adults in Juno regularly reporting back what they have done e.g. “from what you told us/saw/experienced, we did, we will do, we can’t do…”
